Van and Fiona arrive at a town security office to receive their mission briefing, only to discover Thomas is already present. After a brief argument, they agree to collaborate on tracking the outlaws who are blocking trade in the mountains. Thomas devises a plan using a Gustav operated by Beek, while he and Van enter a Liger with Dibson. The outlaws attack as expected, but Van and Thomas soon realize the enemies are utilizing optical stealth technology. They further uncover that the outlaw presence was merely a diversion for Hiltz to excavate ancient ruins. As they approach the hideout to act, they are confronted by Hiltz and his organoid, Ambient.
