Nibun no Inochi

Kurose Ryouya, a young man recently returned from China, resolves to end his life on August 16th, the anniversary of his mother’s passing. While traveling to Ureshino Onsen for this purpose, he finds all local inns fully booked and suffers from dizziness. A high school student named Kanae assists him, leading to a temporary stay at Hisago Ryokan, her family’s establishment. This brief residence draws the attention of a local yakuza member named Setokuma, causing the situation to shift unexpectedly. Consequently, Kurose begins investigating a murder that took place in the area four years prior.
