Ryuu to Amagami
りゅうとあまがみ
Will, a young British girl, has recently come to Japan because of her father's job, but the unfamiliar foods of her new home overwhelm her almost immediately. The pungent, oceanic smell of raw fish in particular makes it nearly impossible for her to manage a proper meal since arriving, and she finds herself growing increasingly stressed and discouraged. While struggling with the strangeness of everything around her, she comes across Ryusaku, a curt and unsentimental Japanese youth who, despite his rough manners, happens to be a chef trained in classical Japanese cuisine. Worn out by her endless complaints about fish-based dishes, he resolves to prepare a meal so satisfying that even she will have nothing left to say. From this small clash grows a quiet account of how a foreign girl and a young cook come to know a town, its inhabitants and one another through the local dishes that pass between them.
