A teenager named Akira has a quiet crush on his classmate, Toriko, but has never spoken to her due to his nervousness. After finding a ring and putting it on, he is transformed into a powerful 9-year-old magic girl with a supernatural companion. In this form, he can rescue Toriko from dangerous creatures and interact with her, though it does not help his romantic prospects in his true identity. He later meets another magic girl named Yuri, who is interested in his teenage self but views his magical form as a rival.
