Un grupo de guerreros conocidos como los Caballeros del Zodíaco defienden a la diosa Atenea. Seiya, un huérfano, está destinado a convertirse en el Caballero de Pegaso. Atenea ha sido reencarnada, pero una profecía advierte sobre su derrota a manos de Poseidón y Hades, lo que llevaría a la destrucción de la humanidad. Seiya se niega a aceptar este destino y se compromete a protegerla.
