Hourou Musuko

A fifth grader named Shuuichi Nitori is often seen as one of the most attractive girls in school, though he is biologically male. He finds support in his childhood friend Yoshino Takatsuki, a tomboy who is biologically female but does not identify as a girl. The two share a common experience and rely on each other for comfort. Their lives become more complex when they face the challenges of a new school, forming new friendships, and keeping old ones. They must navigate the difficulties of growing up, gender identity, relationships, and acceptance. The story follows their experiences as they go through puberty, build friendships, experience love, and confront tough decisions. The original 12-episode series was condensed for television, with episodes 10 and 11 combined and episode 12 moved forward. The full versions of episodes 10 and 11 were later included in the BD and DVD releases.
