Kusuko secretly admires Mishima, the class's popular playboy, but keeps her distance as he frequently dates different girls. Mistaking her reserve for indifference, Mishima challenges her, and they eventually resolve their confusion and start a relationship. As Kusuko learns more about him, her feelings grow stronger. However, she later overhears him speaking to another girl on the phone, which causes her distress.
