Shigurui

In 1629 Shizuoka, under the rule of Tokugawa Tadanaga, a tournament is held in which fighters use real Japanese swords instead of practice weapons, despite resistance from the daimyo's retainers. The narrative centers on the initial duel between Fujiki Gennosuke, a swordsman with one arm, and Irako Seigen, a blind samurai. It explores the events and reasons that bring these two warriors to compete in the contest organized by Tokugawa.
