A DEM owned research facility comes under attack by Kurumi's clones, as she finally discovered where the Spirit codenamed "Sister" had been kept hostage. The scientists and guards are unable to call in reinforcements before they are overwhelmed, and the facility is destroyed which allows Sister to escape. Kurumi is overjoyed that she finally found the captive Spirit. Meanwhile, Shido wakes up in Ratatoskr's secret underground base after being examined by Reine. Reine expresses her relief that Shido's powers are returning to normal, as she had been worried by his spirit powers going out of control. Shido thanks her for all work, and then the rest of the Spirits walk in. After Shido greets them, he asks Reine where Kotori is, to which she replied that she was busy with something in exam room 2. He then told the Spirits to get their checkups done and went to the room. When he walked in, he found Kotori trying to strip Mana. After recovering from the shock, Shido told Kotori it's wrong to force her to do it. Kotori and Mana both then explained that Kotori had been trying to give Mana a checkup in order to see if her body could be saved from the magic treatment DEM inflicted on her. Everyone ends up drawing a practice sketch of Shido to determine who will land a role on the illustration team. In the end, Natsumi is elected head artist while the Yamai twins and Origami aid as assistants. While the Spirits work hard at creating the manga, Shido and Kotori visit Takajo, Nia's old friend whom she eventually started to avoid, leading her friend to believe Nia did not like her anymore. This causes Kotori to believe that Rasiel made Nia aware of people's hidden dark thoughts. However, Shido believes Nia wouldn't do that and can overcome this problem with the help of the Spirits. Meanwhile, Kurumi visits Nia and asks her if there is a way to destroy the Spirit of Origin, the Spirit responsible for the creation of all Spirits. Nia tells her that the Spirit of Origin is so powerful that defeating her in straight-up combat is impossible, but Kurumi believes she can get around that with time travel. Natsumi manages to finish the manga in time, but passes out from exhaustion. At the same time, the other Spirits also state that they have completed their preparations for the festival. As the doujinshi battle at Comico commences, Nia starts with an early advantage due to the popularity granted by being a well-known manga artist. However, the group quickly retaliates by inviting friends and coworkers to purchase their work, with Tohka inviting the Ai, Mai, and Mii trio from school, and Origami inviting her old AST teammates, Ryoko, Mikie, and Mildred. Additionally, the girls reveal their trump card, using bunny girl costumes to help promote their sales. After realizing Nia is still ahead of them, Miku also uses her status as an idol as a form of promotion as well, promising everyone who bought the manga a handshake and selfie. In the end, both groups sold out their entire stock, leading the competition to conclude in a tie. Despite this, Nia agrees to read their manga, claiming that they had put up a good enough fight. After reading their manga, Nia is impressed when seeing that it wasn't bad given that the group had 2 days to complete it. She decides to use Rasiel to find out how they made it in time, only to find that everything they had put in it was true. She later went back to the group and announced that she would go on a second date with Shido, but after the Spirits cheered, Nia warned them not to celebrate too early. As if on que, an inverse reaction triggered. While Shido and the Spirits are taken aback by the sudden change in mood, Westcott and Ellen had been observing Nia's mental state. After Westcott praises the successful inversion, Ellen asks him how he had managed to do it, as they had tried multiple methods of torture to make her hit rock bottom and go inverse. Westcott then reveals that he had allowed Nia to escape after she was freed because he'd told his facility crew to install a micro Realizer in her brain, which gave her amnesia regarding her DEM captivity. After remarking that Nia had almost lost all faith and trust in humanity, he said that he counted on her opening up to Shido and then automatically set the Realizer to deactivate, making her remember all 5 years of being in DEM's captivity. He then tells a blonde lady in the car with him that he and Ellen will be both relying on her assistance. After recovering from their shock, the Spirits quickly equip their Astral Dresses, all while Nia brought forth her Demon King, Beelzebub, and then summons several of the monsters from her own manga. Miku starts to tell Shido to get to Nia, only for Ellen to arrive in her CR-Unit shortly after. Kotori immediately realizes that DEM are responsible for Nia's inversion. Ellen replies that they needed to end this quickly, as her Demon King presented a troublesome challenge. Kotori then tells Tohka, Kaygua, Yuzuru, and Miku to delay Ellen while everyone else helps Shido deal with the inverted Nia. When Shido and Kotori got close to her, she uses what seemed to be Future Entry, paralyzing Shido and Kotori. Origami, Yoshino, and Natsumi then attack some of Nia's monsters with their Angels, only for Nia to use Future Entry again and turn their own Angels against them. At that moment, Shido borrows the powers he sealed to use Zadkiel to freeze more of Nia's monsters, which are advancing on them quickly. This also disrupted Nia's Future Entry and allows Shido and Kotori to move again, where Shido immediately summoned Sandalphon and chopped up the frozen monsters. After hearing Nia scream again, Shido uses Miku's Gabriel to pull Nia's consciousness. As it seemingly beings to work, another Wizard appeared out of nowhere and knocked him and Kotori to the ground, and then proceeds to stab Nia and remove a crystal from her chest. Shido then hears Origami call the Wizard "Artemisia Ashcroft". After this, Westcott appeared as well and, after exchanging pleasantries with Shido, quickly grabs Nia's Qlipha Crystal. He states that he was now closer to fulfilling his deepest desires and put the inverted Sephira crystal in his chest. After letting out an agonizing scream, Westcott grins and let out a crazed evil laugh. Westcott then ridicules Kotori's surprise that he was able to absorb a Sephira Crystal by saying Shido had done the exact same thing to 8 other Spirits. He then summons Beelzebub and creates more of Nia's Silver Bullet monsters, curiously remarking he knew exactly how to use his newfound power just by touching the Demon King. Ellen later joins Westcott and Artemisia, where Westcott created a miniature flame and told Ellen that it was one of the majestic demons that will light their path to victory. He then remarks that they needed more than one Demon King to satisfy their ambitions. Tohka and the other Spirits later arrived on the scene and slashed away the monsters Westcott had summoned. After seeing Ellen get ready to fight, Westcott decides obtaining one Demon King was enough to satisfy him for today and orders a retreat, remarking that not savoring each of them one by one would be a waste. As he begins to teleport away with Ellen and Artemisia, he warns Shido and the Spirits that he will plunder their Qlipha Crystals as well, advising them to enjoy their final days of peace. After Westcott left, Shido and the Spirits immediately ran up to Nia, where Tohka and Kotori quickly found out that Shido had successfully managed to draw her out of her Inverse Form and that she could now be sealed. Shido screams at Nia to open her heart, before kissing her. Nia then woke up and told him that she had already done so, and thanks him before passing out again. The next day, the Spirits all gather around to see the first sunrise of the year, and Nia remarks that she is relieved that Raziel is gone, since having it for years only caused her to discover terrible things about other people. After Nia jokes about her age, she asks the other Spirits when they all became Spirits. In response, Kotori states that she, Miku, and Origami are the only non-pure Spirits in the group, but Nia replies by stating that all Spirits were once human, which quickly silences the entire group. While in class, Shido reflects back on both what Nia had told them and what Mana said about Artemisia's background. Then, entering the classroom, Tama-chan appears while looking greatly distressed over having finally turned thirty. Despite her students' attempts to comfort her, Tama-chan merely laughs insanely and states that she would ask for a meteor to descend if granted a wish. Much to the classes' surprise, the wish is fulfilled mere moments later as a meteor crash lands near the school. Kotori soon contacts Shido, revealing this to be caused by a space-bound Spirit fending off attacks by DEM forces. Using a camera to project a 3D image of himself into outer space, Shido attempts to talk to the Spirit, Mukuro Hoshimiya. From Reine's analysis, her Angel Michael, can move objects across long distances, as well as lock and unlock physical skills and memories of objects and people. Mukuro states that she used Michael on herself to seal her emotions, becoming a person of cold, dispassionate logic. Shido's attempts to persuade her to come to Earth with him fail, as she believes that the Spirits' reduced power will not protect them from anyone who would wish harm on them, like DEM. She also threatens to stop the Earth's rotation should anyone interrupt her solitude again. Between the threat of DEM successfully capturing Mukuro, and Earth's destruction, Kotori tells Shido Ratatoskr will travel into space, with its upgraded spaceship, the Fraxinus Excelsior, in order to save Mukuro. Before liftoff, however, the Spirits receive a visit from Elliot Baldwin Woodman, the chairman and founder of Ratatoskr. Due to Nia already having prior knowledge of Woodman's backstory from Kurumi's prior request, she asks how Woodman can preach such rhetoric when he helped co-found DEM. In response, Woodman acknowledges his role in DEM and his original goal in attempting to capture Spirits and harness their power. However, upon realizing the immorality of their actions and falling in love with the Spirit of Origin, Woodman parted ways with Westcott and founded Ratatoskr to save Spirits. As soon as Woodman thanks Shido for keeping the Spirits safe, Westcott launches a surprise attack, having discovered Ratatoskr's secret base through <Beelzebub>'s power.
