Koharu heads off to the Hoenn region after hearing about a trainer with a Nymphia. Once there, Koharu meets Ruthia, who forces Koharu to join the local Pokémon contest. Koharu also runs into Serena, who encourages her to participate in the contest. Satoshi and Go are on their way to the contest hall when they are suddenly approached by Mikuri, who challenges Satoshi to a Pokémon battle, which Satoshi ends up winning. Koharu, Serena, and Ruthia all perform in the Pokémon contest, with Serena and Ruthia tying for first place. While Koharu and Serena say their goodbyes, Satoshi and Go both run past Serena to get on a boat with Koharu. Serena recognizes Satoshi and calls out to him.
