Koharu travels to the Hoenn region upon learning of a trainer with a Nymphia. She meets Ruthia, who compels her to enter a local Pokémon contest, and Serena, who encourages her participation. Meanwhile, Satoshi and Go head to the contest hall but are intercepted by Mikuri, who challenges Satoshi to a battle that he wins. Koharu, Serena, and Ruthia compete, with Serena and Ruthia tying for first place. As Koharu and Serena say goodbye, Satoshi and Go rush past Serena to board a boat with Koharu. Serena spots Satoshi, calls out to him, and the two briefly reunite to share their goals.
