While Sara prepares to leave the Seminary, the Headmistress breaks up the party and accompanies Mr. Barrow to inventory Sara's possessions. Mr. Barrow advises her not to be so harsh, and they plan for Sara to become a maid to work off her financial obligations. When Mr. Barrow leaves, the Headmistress storms upstairs to take back the dress Sara is wearing and throws Peter out. Sara takes a last look at her old room before going to the Headmistress's office.
