This entry follows the aftermath of Koyomi Araragi and Hitagi Senjougahara's graduation, leaving only a few familiar students at Naoetsu Private High School. Suruga Kanbaru, who possesses the Monkey's Paw, hears rumors of a "Devil" that offers magical solutions to problems. She assumes the rumors involve her and investigates, discovering that they actually refer to Rouka Numachi, a former basketball player now giving advice to others. Numachi, who collects misfortune, gives people false hope to relieve their stress. Kanbaru criticizes her for lying but sees no real harm. However, the next day, she notices her left hand has returned to its original state, suggesting there may be more to the situation than she realized.
