Ep. 3: Retsuko confronts Fenneko and Tsunoda while Ton refuses to downsize accounting

Retsuko and Haida’s relationship remains awkward despite Fenneko’s efforts. Himuro informs Ton that the company is cutting costs and orders him to downsize the accounting department. Retsuko later discovers that Fenneko and Tsunoda have been setting her up with Haida, prompting her to demand an explanation. After work, Ton consults with Komiya regarding which employee should be removed. The next morning, he presents a blank list to Himuro and tells his wife he has no intention of firing anyone. He cites the accounting department’s history of surviving without layoffs during the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1980s as justification for his decision to retain all staff members.
