Following a failed history exam, Tokidoki Rikugou attends a makeup class at a high-tech museum featuring a virtual Edo period exhibit accessed via goggles. He befriends fellow student Kon Shinonome, who suddenly vanishes. Later, while crossing a bridge within the simulation, Tokidoki is attacked by a Nue and loses an eye. He remains helpless until a female samurai named Kuchiha arrives to save him. Upon regaining consciousness, Tokidoki discovers that he may have actually been transported to the real Edo time period rather than remaining in the virtual simulation.

Tokidoki Confronts Samurai and Discovers Kuchiha's Inugami Secret

Tokidoki visits a temple where monk Shamon reveals he, like Shinonome, cannot return home. Undeterred, Tokidoki commits to his duties until Kuchiha faces a threat from samurai. Enraged by his interference, Kuchiha scolds him. Refusing to let the samurai escape, Tokidoki persuades Shinonome and watchman Heihachi to assist in a prank against one of the men. He employs knowledge from his own era to execute the plan and teach the samurai a lesson.

Bonten discovers Heihachi abandoned in the forest, prompting him to begin extracting the man's soul. Meanwhile, Tokidoki and Kuchiha learn that Shamon is located nearby and decide to visit him. This leaves Shinshu alone at the Pharmacy while the others are away. The narrative focuses on these simultaneous events involving the characters in the forest and the pharmacy setting.
