Apr 3, 2010Yuzuru Otonashi awakens in the afterlife with no memory of his life. He encounters Yuri Nakamura aiming a sniper rifle at the student council president, Angel. Yuri invites him to join the SSS, but Otonashi speaks with Angel, who reveals that everyone is dead. When Otonashi requests proof, Angel kills him. He dies a hundred times the next day before waking up in the SSS room with core members. Yuri explains the afterlife and their conflict with Angel. That night, the group launches Operation Tornado to steal meal tickets from non-player characters. The affiliated band Girls Dead Monster performs in the cafeteria to create a distraction while some members fight Angel. The SSS retreats to the cafeteria to use the tickets, where Otonashi attempts to process the events.
EP 2Yuri leads SSS members to the Guild, facing traps and Angel while revealing her tragic past.
Apr 10, 2010With supplies depleted, Yuri guides nine SSS members to the underground Guild where allies craft weapons. As Angel approaches, the group encounters reactivated booby traps, resulting in the deaths of all members except Yuri and Otonashi. During a brief respite, Yuri shares the story of her three younger siblings' murder, which fuels her resolve to defy God's cruel fate. Upon reaching the Guild, Yuri orders an evacuation as Angel nears the entrance. Guild leader Chaa decides to destroy the facility. Yuri and Otonashi engage Angel to provide sufficient time for the remaining members to install explosives and flee to a new location. Yuri subsequently directs the Guild's restructuring, earning Otonashi's recognition of her leadership capabilities.
EP 3Iwasawa performs My Song before vanishing while SSS hacks Angel's computer
Apr 17, 2010Masami Iwasawa presents the ballad My Song, prompting Yuri to doubt its utility for SSS missions. Yuri recruits Takeyama, a computer hacking specialist, to infiltrate Angel’s room and crack her password. Simultaneously, Girl’s Dead Monster stages a concert to distract Angel. During a break, Otonashi speaks with Iwasawa, who shares details about her troubled family, musical ambitions, and death. While Yuri leads a team to Angel’s room, teachers suppress the concert, but Iwasawa escapes to perform her song. She subsequently disappears from the afterlife. The SSS discovers that Angel crafts her own weapons using specialized software.
EP 4Yui becomes vocalist while SSS forms baseball teams for tournament against Angel
Apr 24, 2010Yui assumes the vocalist role after an accidental death during tryouts, leaving the choice to GDM. Yuri directs the SSS to enter a baseball tournament. Hideki Hinata and Otonashi struggle to recruit members but eventually form an eight-person team with Yui, Shiina, Noda, and three female NPCs. The SSS teams defeat NPC opponents initially but lose to Angel’s school baseball team. Hinata’s squad reaches the final against Angel. In the last inning, Hinata faces a fly ball he dropped in his past life. Otonashi attempts to stop him due to suspicions about his disappearance. Yui intervenes, grappling Hinata to prevent the catch. Angel’s team wins the match, causing significant frustration for Yuri.
EP 5Yuri plots to sabotage Angel's exam grades while Otonashi learns her real name is Kanade Tachibana.
May 1, 2010To lower Angel's ranking, Yuri orchestrates a plan where SSS members create classroom distractions. Takeyama swaps Kanade's test papers with fakes, causing her to lose the council presidency to vice president Ayato Naoi. Otonashi meets Kanade and discovers her real name during this operation. Later, during Operation Tornado, Kanade remains calm and purchases a meal ticket for mapo doufu. The ticket is blown away by the chaos and caught by Otonashi. As he eats her favorite dish, he feels sympathy for her. Immediately after, Naoi arrives with NPCs to punish the SSS for their persistent disobedience and rule-breaking behavior throughout the school.
EP 6SSS members escape while Naoi’s hypocrisy and tragic past are revealed during a cafeteria incident.
May 8, 2010The SSS members are released from imprisonment, and Yuri orders for more class distractions to test Naoi's enforcement, though Naoi remains vigilant. Yuri finds Naoi's own misconduct of beating up NPCs to prevent his own disappearance. Otonashi asks Kanade to eat together in the cafeteria, but Naoi confines them for eating during an improper time. Kanade tells Otonashi that anyone who befriends her disappears. Via a walkie-talkie, Yuri informs Otonashi about her discoveries regarding Naoi. During the conversation, the SSS fight a losing battle against Naoi, who uses hypnosis-controlled NPCs as shields. Needing Kanade to fight, Otonashi convinces her to break out of confinement, but the SSS members have already been massacred. While attempting to hypnotize Yuri, Otonashi stops Naoi, who reveals his own unfair life as a replacement for his dead twin brother. As Naoi weeps, Otonashi embraces and acknowledges him.
EP 7Naoi joins SSS and Yuri orders fishing expedition for Monster Stream
May 15, 2010Naoi joins the SSS after Yuri asks him to use hypnosis to recover Otonashi's memories. Naoi recalls his past life centered on his hospitalized sister Hatsune, her death, his medical school goal, and his accidental demise. Renewed by these memories, he rejoins the group with fresh resolve. Due to a lack of meal tickets, Yuri initiates a fishing expedition to catch the Monster Stream, a massive fish. Otonashi invites Kanade, credited with catching the Monster Stream which yielded excess fish, to help serve the surplus to the NPCs. Kanade and Otonashi pledge their continued support to the SSS. However, instead of dining, they discover a wounded Yuri battling an Angel. As Yuri collapses, a second Angel with glowing red eyes appears.
EP 8SSS members battle Kanade clones while Yuri manipulates harmonics to restore the original Angel.
May 22, 2010The SSS confronts the hostile red-eyed Kanade, resulting in a mutual stabbing between the two entities. Yuri recalls the harmonics ability, which enables self-cloning, and directs the team to class while she modifies Kanade’s computer to reverse the process. Meanwhile, the original Kanade is abducted and located in the abandoned Guild. The SSS traverses the area, facing Angel clones rather than traps, with only Yuri and Otonashi surviving the journey. At the bottom, Yuri defeats the final clone, and Otonashi instructs the original to activate harmonics. A new clone warns of the risk of fusing all consciousnesses into Kanade. As the absorption program initiates, the Angel clones painfully revert to the original form.
EP 9Otonashi dreams of the subway accident and learns the afterlife's purpose with Kanade.
May 29, 2010While waiting for Kanade to wake, Otonashi dreams of a subway accident where he led survivors for a week before dying just before rescue. Upon waking, he accepts his fate and joins Kanade in helping souls move on, revealing the afterlife's true purpose is to reconcile past regrets. This mission aligns with Kanade's original goal. Following these events, both Kanade and Naoi are reinstated to their roles as student council president and vice president. The rest of the SSS mistakenly believes Kanade has reverted to her Angel form, but this assumption is incorrect. The narrative focuses on their cooperation to guide others through this transitional state, resolving individual regrets before final departure.

Jun 5, 2010Otonashi and Kanade choose Yui as their first subject to help, uncovering her paralysis and a list of desires. Yui completes the first two activities but abandons the home run after a few days, though she enjoys the experiences. Her final wish involves marriage, which Hinata fulfills by proposing despite her condition, citing their fortunate connection. With her wishes granted, Yui disappears, and Hinata joins Otonashi in helping others move on. Meanwhile, Noda and Ouyama are attacked by a mysterious entity that Yusa identifies as a shadow.

Fujimaki reports Takamatsu lost to the shadows, but he reappears the next day as a soulless NPC. Yuri assembles a large SSS group to address the crisis, urging Otonashi to share his ideal of passing on. While some object, Hinata and Naoi support him. Yuri nearly becomes an NPC while dreaming of ordinary classroom life, but Otonashi and Kanade’s group saves her. After fighting more shadows, Yuri discovers a hidden room containing stolen computers running Angel Player software. She meets an unknown boy there and questions him about the afterlife. Ultimately, Yuri resists the temptation to become God and destroys all the computers. She dreams of forgiving siblings, and Otonashi watches over her as she wakes up in the infirmary.
EP 13Graduation ceremony held by survivors after shadows incident leads to Kanade's departure
Jun 26, 2010Three days after the shadows incident, Otonashi, Yuri, Kanade, Hinata, and Naoi remain while others have passed on. Following Kanade's idea, they hold a graduation ceremony with an anthem, diplomas, and a speech. Naoi leaves first, followed by Yuri making peace with Kanade and Hinata departing shortly after. Otonashi and Kanade remain alone; he suggests staying in the afterlife to help others and confesses his love. Kanade reveals she is the recipient of his transplanted heart, expresses gratitude, and disappears, leaving Otonashi in tears. In an epilogue, a girl resembling Kanade hums Iwasawa's "My Song" in the living world as a boy resembling Otonashi recognizes the melody and moves to tap her shoulder before the scene fades to white.
