Xiang Ying experiences a recurring dream where she is a child searching for Ryo. Ryo advises her to mention this to Doc during her next physical exam. Upon arrival, Doc confuses Xiang Ying with Kaori due to their similar mannerisms. While waiting, Xiang Ying drifts off and sees visions from Kaori’s past. She observes Kaori helping Ryo, then visiting her brother, police detective Hideyuki Makimura, who criticizes her nursing career. Hideyuki demands Ryo be arrested as a stray with fake documents, but Kaori defends him as a patient. That night, Ryo fears arrest and prepares to kill Kaori, believing she noticed he had regained consciousness.
