The friends visit Jinta’s house and witness Menma, who can only write at the secret base. Atsumu suggests continuing their efforts, and he and Chiriko ask Menma’s father for permission to make fireworks. Atsumu grows frustrated that only Jinta can see Menma, while Naruko feels inadequate. Atsumu tries to comfort Naruko, but Chiriko overhears him mention dating her. Later, Menma spends time with Tetsudou and spots a carp in the river. Jinta sees her near the water and reveals he wants her to stay forever.
