Apr 15, 2011Jinta Yadomi is haunted by the spirit of Meiko Honma, who only he can see. She asks him to fulfill a forgotten wish, eventually remembering it involves reuniting their childhood group. Jinta visits Naruko Anjou, with whom he is estranged, and later encounters Chiriko Tsurumi and Atsumu Matsuyuki in the city. Tension rises when Jinta mentions Meiko, causing him to flee. He recalls their past as the Super Peace Busters and a tragic accident where Meiko died before he could apologize for hurting her feelings. Seeking closure, Jinta searches for Meiko and visits their old secret fort, where he meets the final friend, Tetsudou Hisakawa.

However, Menma begins to vanish as she fulfilled a promise to Jinta’s mother to help him cry. Jinta carries her to the secret base but loses the ability to see her upon arrival. As the group searches, Menma leaves final messages. Jinta and the others shout to her, regaining sight and hearing to say their goodbyes before she disappears. Later, Jinta attends school with Naruko, Atsumu and Chiriko grow closer, and Tetsudou resumes studying while working. The friends return to the base to read Menma’s messages, reflecting on the summer flower.
