Ep. 9: Mephisto reveals the ghoul attack was the Exwire exam while Yukio confronts Neuhaus and Shiemi chooses her path.

Mephisto informs the students that the recent ghoul attack served as the Exwire exam, with their performance counting toward evaluation. Yukio suspects Neuhaus and confronts him about forcing Rin to use demonic powers, but Neuhaus claims he acted on Mephisto’s orders. Yukio later visits Shiemi at her mother’s shop, recalling their first meeting when he became an Exorcist instructor, and tells her she has the potential to become a Tamer. That night, Yukio realizes Neuhaus intends to kill Rin while he sleeps. As Shiemi watches over Rin, Yukio confronts Neuhaus on the roof. Rin attacks Neuhaus but is stopped by a giant ghoul. Yukio erases the summoning circle to prevent the attack. Neuhaus reveals he is a survivor of Blue Night, when Satan possessed him to slaughter Exorcists at a cursed temple. Before leaving, he warns Rin that others want him dead. After treating Rin’s wounds, Shiemi decides to become an Exorcist. Mephisto promotes the cram school students to Exwires and celebrates with a feast.
