Rukia is severely injured when Aaroniero impales her stomach and shatters her zanpakutou, Sode no Shirayuki. Shocked by the revelation that he inhabits Kaien's body, she remembers his words about hearts being passed to loved ones. This memory restores her determination, allowing her to perform the third dance, San No Mai Shirafune. She reconstructs her sword using ice and kills Aaroniero by piercing his head. Despite her victory, Rukia collapses from her wounds while trying to stand and continue her mission to rescue Orihime. This event occurs during the Arrancar: The Fierce Fight arc, specifically episode 9 of 16.
