Amagai regains control after overusing his bakoutou, allowing Ichigo to defeat him. Amagai then stabs Yamamoto, who remains unharmed. Yoruichi and other captains arrive to reveal that Yamamoto ordered Amagai's father, Kisaragi, to investigate the Kasumiouji clan's bakoutou. Kumoi used a bakoutou to control Kisaragi, forcing Yamamoto to kill him. Amagai forgives Yamamoto upon learning this truth. To repent for his actions, he uses his zanpakutou to self-immolate. Before dying, he apologizes to Kira. Later, Lurichiyo and Shuu thank Ichigo for his assistance. Lurichiyo assumes her position as the head of the Kasumiouji clan, concluding the events of the arc.
