Urahara escorts Hiyori to the Maggots Nest, a Soul Society facility for dangerous individuals, and effortlessly stops an attacker. Inside, he recruits a young Mayuri Kurotsuchi as second-in-command for the new Technological Research Bureau. Meanwhile, a young Byakuya Kuchiki becomes irritated when Yoruichi steals his hair ribbon and taunts him. Elsewhere, Juushirou Ukitake informs Kaien Shiba about a boy promoted to a seat position in his squad. This boy, identified as young Gin Ichimaru, easily defeats the third seat officer of the fifth division while Aizen watches with interest.
