Following the destruction of a secret pool at his residence, Captain Byakuya Kuchiki joins other Soul Reapers for a seaside vacation in the living world. After purchasing swimwear, the group gathers at the beach, where they must assist Jushiro Ukitake due to his sensitivity to heat. Participants compete in a beach art contest, but the event is interrupted when watermelon-shaped monsters attack, leaving most fighters powerless without their zanpakutou. Yoruichi Shihouin and Soi Fon defeat the creatures, revealing that Retsu Unohana orchestrated the gathering with Byakuya and Ukitake as a watermelon-splitting game, with additional arrivals occurring as the episode concludes.
