Ep. 241: Byakuya Challenges Renji to Protect His Pride and Zanpakuto
Ukitake, Kyouraku, Renji, and Unohana discuss Byakuya’s betrayal, noting that a zanpakutou becomes unusable if killed by anyone other than its owner. Byakuya returns to the zanpakutou hideout, defeats Sode no Shirayuki, and seemingly kills it, rendering Rukia unable to use her weapon. Rukia and Renji investigate Byakuya’s office, but he arrives with Senbonzakura, tossing Rukia the broken remains of her zanpakutou. Zabimaru arrives to assist Renji against Byakuya and Senbonzakura, but they are overpowered. Suddenly, Tenken, Houzukimaru, Kazeshini, Ruri’iro Kujaku, and Gonryomaru appear. The second division surrounds the zanpakutou, and their owners emerge to fight them. This segment belongs to the Zanpakutou Unknown Tales arc, specifically episode 12 of 26.
