Ichigo remains imprisoned by Hyourinmaru as Hitsugaya confronts the spirit. In the woods, Rangiku and Momo defeat their Zanpakuto using Kidou. Hitsugaya attempts to seal Hyourinmaru, but the spirit dissolves the technique effortlessly, darkening the sky with immense power. Recalling their first meeting, Hitsugaya appeals to Hyourinmaru to recognize him as his master. He successfully activates the Zanpakuto's Shikai, proving his authority despite freezing himself and losing consciousness. This event occurs during the Zanpakutou Unknown Tales arc on 10/26.
