Ichigo confronts Byakuya while Senbonzakura intercepts him, leading to a Bankai clash. Renji and Zabimaru block Byakuya's escape. Kira battles Kazeshini, suspecting its personality stems from Hisagi's repressed impulses. Soi Fon fights Gonryomaru and Tenken simultaneously but is caught off guard by smoke. Yumichika exchanges insults with Ruri'iro Kujaku. Ikkaku defeats Houzukimaru by breaking its Bankai through repeated attacks and surviving the final strike. Meanwhile, Fourth Division lieutenant Isane Kotetsu and Seventh Division lieutenant Tetsuzaemon Iba arrive to aid the wounded. Their assistance is interrupted by the appearance of Ashisogi Jizou at the battle site.
