After Yammy throws Rukia, Ichigo confronts him using a new Hollow mask to deliver a Getsuga Tenshou, though he cannot reuse it. Yammy attempts to crush Ichigo, but Byakuya Kuchiki and Kenpachi Zaraki intervene, severing one of Yammy’s legs. Mayuri arrives, explaining he has analyzed the Garganta and offers to transport Ichigo back to Karakura Town. Byakuya reminds Ichigo that his duty is protecting Karakura Town, not fighting in Hueco Mundo. Consequently, Retsu Unohana decides to accompany Ichigo to the world of the living. This segment is part of the Arrancar: Downfall arc, identified as episode 21 out of 39.
