Ichigo, Rukia, and modified souls enter Kariya's mansion to demand Uryuu's release. Ichigo engages Udagawa in combat while Rukia and the others search for Uryuu. Ichinose intercepts them, explaining his disillusionment with the Thirteen Court Guard Squads after Kenpachi killed the previous eleventh division captain to become leader. Upon seeing Udagawa attempt to betray Kariya, Ichinose leaves to protect his master, killing Udagawa in the process. He then turns his attention to Ichigo, initiating a direct confrontation between the two fighters as the situation escalates within the mansion.
