Mabashi utilizes Ritz to compel Rukia to fight Orihime, who refuses because she came to the Soul Society to save her. Shuuhei Hisagi, lieutenant of the Ninth division, arrives and, after Orihime explains the situation, decides to kill Rukia. Orihime uses her abilities to separate Ritz from Rukia, allowing Hisagi to defeat Ritz. Before Hisagi can attack Mabashi, Ichinose appears and retreats with Mabashi. This event occurs during the Bount arc.
