Byakuya and Ichigo battle Kariya, who regenerates by absorbing spirit particles. They inflict severe wounds that prevent his recovery. Rantao, the Soul Reaper who created the Bounts, arrives, causing Kariya to retreat. As Byakuya departs, Uryuu appears. Rantao then takes Ichigo and Uryuu to her residence.
