Byakuya orders Rukia to rest at the Kuchiki clan residence. Meanwhile, Kariya travels to Kusajishi in the Rukongai, a dangerous district, and recruits locals to help him battle the Soul Reapers. Ichigo, Uryuu Ishida, and Yasutora "Chad" Sado resume their search for the Bounts, with Ichigo bringing the modified soul Ririn along. In a separate location within the Rukongai forest, Byakuya comes across Kariya, setting the stage for an impending confrontation between the two characters.
