Aired on January 20, 2000

At Hijiridani High School, Misuzu Arito adopts the nickname Panuru, honoring a friend killed by a serial killer. While pretending to accept fate, she secretly rejects Panuru’s worldview. After friend Yoko Sasaoka discusses Jounouchi’s disappearance, Misuzu introduces her to shinigami Masami Saotome, who kills Yoko while promising to relieve her sadness. Nagi Kirima confronts Misuzu about these actions but is ignored, prompting the shinigami to set a trap. Boogiepop appears first, confronting Misuzu about her duplicity and leaving her distraught. She runs for help but encounters a policeman who slaughters her and takes her body just as Kirima arrives.
