Ep. 9: Boruto faces Hanabi in training while investigating Kagemasa to prove his Byakugan awakening.
Hiashi intends to test Boruto’s Byakugan awakening, but Hanabi challenges him instead, refusing to hold back. Boruto loses both matches despite using shadow clones, leading Hanabi to doubt his progress. Exhausted, Boruto stays at the Hyuga residence where Naruto convinces Hiashi that Boruto’s effort proves his honesty. Hanabi offers Boruto her support, and he later encounters Sarada at the market. He spots a figure with a mysterious shadow, revealing it to be Kagemasa, the actor whose sequel was canceled due to weight gain. Boruto fights Kagemasa but is saved by Sarada, allowing them to defeat him together. The following day, Boruto informs Shikadai and Mitsuki that while he cannot yet prove his Byakugan awakening, he will persist in finding a way to convince everyone of the truth.
