Kotomi returns a violin to Rie Nishina, befriending her and resuming class attendance. Encouraged by Kyou, she joins Ryou, Nagisa, and Tomoya for a town outing where Fuko appears but is forgotten. The next day, Nagisa mistakenly believes Ryou was in a bus accident, but the group finds no one hurt. Instead, Kotomi suffers an emotional breakdown and collapses. She leaves school early, and when Tomoya, Nagisa, and the Fujibayashi twins visit her home, there is no answer. Tomoya returns and encounters a strange man who is an acquaintance of Kotomi's parents. He enters the house and discovers Kotomi in a room filled with newspaper clippings about her parents' death. This scene triggers Tomoya's memory of meeting Kotomi when he was a child.
