Kotomi exits her home to find Tomoya asleep in the garden after working all night. Upon returning to school, she encounters Tomoya, Kyou, Ryou, Nagisa, and the stranger she previously feared. The group reveals that the man is her legal guardian and that no written thesis notes ever existed, meaning the envelope she burned was insignificant. He presents her with her parents' suitcase, recovered from a plane crash and held for years. Inside, she finds a teddy bear she had requested before their departure and a heartfelt letter. As she holds the bear, the room illuminates with lights, allowing Kotomi to finally make peace with the loss of her parents.
