Ibara shoots down a mercenary jet that crashes into a lake stadium, where the crew is already dead. The Coppelions discover barrels of radioactive waste, revealing that Yellow Cake, a recycling company, has been secretly dumping global nuclear waste in Tokyo, causing recent radiation spikes. Enraged by this discovery, Ibara confronts Denjiro, who blames himself and seeks atonement. Fearing suicide, she tracks him to a shrine as he removes his helmet, with only ten minutes remaining before the anti-radiation effects of his Ether bullet injection wear off. They rush to the airfield for evacuation by Onihei, whose helicopter arrives just in time. Despite Denjiro’s indirect role in Onihei’s family death during the meltdown, Onihei helps him aboard. Denjiro apologizes for their world and provides a list of other Tokyo survivors. Aoi and Taeko reassure Ibara of their enduring support as the mission continues.
