The Syndicate commands Huang to assassinate Shihoko, with a hidden directive for Mao and Hei to kill Alma and Huang if he fails. Flashbacks reveal Huang’s romance with Shihoko and her killing of his former police partner, Isozaki. Following Isozaki’s wife’s memory wipe by the M.E., Huang joins The Syndicate. Unable to kill Shihoko, he asks Hei to end their lives. Hei attempts to help them escape while Mao refuses involvement. At the docks, Shihoko spots a Syndicate member, realizing escape is impossible. Choosing to protect Huang, she steps into the path of an oncoming truck and dies.
