Goku and Piccolo realize they cannot defeat Raditz directly, so they devise a plan where Goku distracts the enemy while Piccolo charges a powerful energy blast. The strategy fails when Raditz tricks Goku by grabbing his tail, leading to Raditz torturing him. Enraged by his father's suffering, Gohan unleashes hidden power and strikes Raditz in the chest. Seizing the opening, Goku restrains Raditz from behind, allowing Piccolo to fire his Makankosappo, which kills all three combatants. Before dying, Raditz warns that other Saiyans will reach Earth within a year. Bulma, Krillin, and Master Roshi arrive at the scene to witness Goku's death.
