Mariko recovers her vector abilities and meets Lucy, who is shocked by a broken horn. Kurama, with rescued Nana, witnesses the clash and learns Mariko is his daughter. Overcome with emotion, Mariko cries before Kurama offers final reassurance as a bomb inside her detonates, killing them both. The facility director, revealed to be a diclonius, oversees the aftermath. Lucy survives the fight, expressing remorse for Kohta before they kiss and she faces security. Her fate remains uncertain as gunfire continues despite her broken horn. At Kaede house, the family prepares to eat when Wanta barks. Kohta investigates the door, hearing the repaired grandfather clock tick and seeing a figure resembling Lucy.
