Kohta recalls the tragedy from eight years ago, where Lucy killed his father and sister Kanae in retaliation for his lie regarding his cousin's gender. Shirakawa sends Mariko to assassinate Lucy, while Kurama hires Bando for the same purpose. Mariko attacks Nana, Kohta, and Lucy, but Nana uses her vectors to disable Mariko's abilities, causing her to fall from the bridge. Shirakawa later identifies Lucy's Nyu personality as the target diclonius and is killed alongside his security forces.
