Following the Unification War, power is shared by the Emperor, Prime Minister, and two remaining dukes, Diese and Ray Dawn. During patrols for the tenth anniversary, Marlya and Free stop a malfunctioning artificial Zern I fairy caused by sabotage. Dorothea provides intelligence on the Black Fairy Tome, sending Marlya and Klara to Sinquenje to retrieve it. They tail an agent named Dice, who purchased the tome at auction. Klara reveals she joined Dorothea after Nein saved her life during the War. Damien follows them. After apprehending Dice, they learn he works for Gui Carlin mafia leader Gilbert Warlock. Meanwhile, Sweetie arrives at Warlock's estate, where Duke Diese reacts to the fairy malfunction news.
