Years ago, the War of Unification destroyed Suna village, separating Marlya and Veronica. Eastald united under Zesskia, but Marlya joined the Mafia to find her friend. She meets Free, security head for an auction selling a Black Fairy Tome page. Veronica attacks, stealing the page, and Marlya pursues her. A fairy merges with Marlya, triggering flashbacks of Suna and Veronica’s revenge vow. Both girls unleash their Fairies in battle. Marlya’s fairy intervenes, allowing Veronica to escape. Free reveals he works for Dorothea, a government group policing illegal Fairy users. Marlya, now an illegal user, must join Dorothea or face arrest. She agrees to confront Veronica. Meanwhile, Veronica gives the stolen page to her superior, who confirms it is fake.

Free reports Marlya's possession to Nein and investigates illegal Fairy sales in Dipre with Serge and Klara.

Free informs Dorothea director Nein that Marlya was directly possessed by a Fairy, contrary to standard organ transplantation methods. Nein dismisses the possibility of possession and conceals the truth. Free and Marlya travel to the Dipre region to investigate the illegal trade of artificial Fairies, where they reunite with agents Serge and Klara. During surveillance, Klara identifies a Fairy Soldier among the traders. Free takes Marlya to investigate the soldier, leaving Serge and Klara to monitor the sale. Free confronts the soldier, recognizing him as Wolfran, a comrade from the Unification War. After a brief fight, Wolfran escapes but kills the traders to protect the buyer's identity. He later visits two graves, likely belonging to his wife and child.

Free explains that only 17 Fairy Soldiers survived the Unification War, which also killed Wolfran’s family. He and Marlya are sent by the Ministry of Fairies to Timoon to meet scholar Cain regarding the Black Fairy Tome, a text on Fairy possession. There, they encounter Free’s contact Sweetie from the Gui Carlin mafia. They also meet Cain’s associate Damien, while Free’s contact Axel attempts to steal the Tome for the Arcame mafia. Axel steals a page, triggering a chase between him, Free, and Sweetie. This event is revealed to be a trap by Damien and Veronica using a fake page to identify seekers of the real Tome. Sweetie shoots Axel, but Free battles her to retrieve the item. Sweetie reveals she is a Fairy Soldier. Meanwhile, a dying Axel is approached by an unknown man in an alley.

After Free defeats Sweetie with Marlya's aid, Marlya recalls Suna's destruction by Ray Dawn's army. She and Veronica once saw fairy primitives unaided. Patricia, a Gui Carlin member and Sweetie's friend, meets with her. Free and Marlya return to Cain and Damien, who evade questions about a Black Tome page and deny knowing Veronica. Marlya distrusts them. Patricia and Jonathan steal the page, prompting Marlya and Free to follow them into an abandoned church passage. They are ambushed in a crypt where Patricia lures Free away, leaving Jonathan to capture Marlya. Jonathan, a skilled knife-wielder, wounds Marlya with a poison blade that blocks her fairy summoning. Just as he captures her, Veronica appears through a window, drawing her knife against Jonathan to protect Marlya.

Veronica Attacks Jonathan While Marlya and Free Secure Escape and Victory

Veronica fails to assassinate Ray Dawn in the past due to his Fairy. Presently, she assaults Jonathan but is tainted by poison, hindering her Fairy summoning. Marlya intervenes, forcing her Fairy to launch a fire attack that traps Jonathan, enabling her and Veronica to flee the church. In the catacombs, Free defeats Patricia, who surrenders a Black Fairy Tome page before escaping. Jonathan pursues the pair outside and is promptly killed by Veronica, who has regained her Fairy. She warns Marlya to avoid her for safety. Meanwhile, Duke Hybranz plots with Wolfram against Ray Dawn. Marlya and Free return to HQ, where Dorothea hosts a party celebrating Marlya’s first successful mission. Veronica hums a Suna song while gazing at the night sky.

Following the Unification War, power is shared by the Emperor, Prime Minister, and two remaining dukes, Diese and Ray Dawn. During patrols for the tenth anniversary, Marlya and Free stop a malfunctioning artificial Zern I fairy caused by sabotage. Dorothea provides intelligence on the Black Fairy Tome, sending Marlya and Klara to Sinquenje to retrieve it. They tail an agent named Dice, who purchased the tome at auction. Klara reveals she joined Dorothea after Nein saved her life during the War. Damien follows them. After apprehending Dice, they learn he works for Gui Carlin mafia leader Gilbert Warlock. Meanwhile, Sweetie arrives at Warlock's estate, where Duke Diese reacts to the fairy malfunction news.

Zern I Malfunctions Spark Ministry Rivalry and Warlock Investigation

Sabotaged Zern I artificial fairies cause friction between the Ministry of Fairies and Ministry of War. Dorothea investigates the defects and Warlock, while Nein faces pressure from Duke Diese to ally with the War Ministry. Free suspects the Arcame family regarding the upcoming three-day war anniversary. Robert links the failures to missing inventor Eddy Lloyd. Sweetie proposes a collaboration to investigate Gui Carlin executive Warlock. She, Marlya, and Klara confront him; he admits to holding the Black Fairy Tome but refuses disclosure. Sweetie reveals Marlya and Klara are Dorothea and offers an exchange to view the tome. The episode concludes with a flashback of young Sweetie visiting the ancient Tupal civilization ruins.

Sweetie, Marlya, and Klara use their Fairies to subdue Warlock and his guards while Dorothea raids the house. Sweetie retrieves the Black Fairy Tome before fleeing, allowing Dorothea to recover it without capturing her. Meanwhile, Robert investigates malfunctioning artificial fairies, leading to the arrest of chief engineer Hanns Efmed. Evidence of tampering on the Zern Is forces the government to remove them from the ceremony. Robert discovers that Ted Livingston, an engineer working for Hanns, is actually Eddy Lloyd's son. Ted altered the Zern Is to be replaced by Psyden VIIs, which he can override. He warns that Ted plans to assassinate Prime Minister Golbarn Helwise using the Psyden VIIs. The attack occurs, with Duke Diese protecting the Prime Minister. Marlya and Free apprehend Ted, stopping the attempt. Veronica observes that Ray Dawn stood back during the incident.

Marlya confronts her past while the group faces political intrigue and rising tensions.

Oz’s body is seized by the Ministry of Fairies for organ disposal, leaving Marlya to blame herself for his death and her perceived curse. Free regrets his failure against Liscar, while Duke Diese practices with the stolen Fratanil. A spy observing Liscar’s mercenaries near Rondacia is killed before reporting. Marlya, Free, Klara, and Serge travel to Tudal to inspect Ray Dawn’s Fairy Weapon, where Marlya silently encounters the man who destroyed Suna. She later visits Don Jingle of the Biaklay mafia, who invites her back, but she hesitates. Free intervenes, asserting his responsibility for her and reminding her that Dorothea’s members are comrades who protect one another. Encouraged not to flee from her goal to find Veronica, Marlya resolves to stay. Before returning to Rondacia, the group receives a letter from Ray Dawn for the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, trucks transporting artificial fairies cross the countryside, threatening to ignite a war.

Duke Diese declares Hybranz independence while Dorothea agents defend the Emperor from a diversionary attack.

In Hybranz, Duke Diese's forces storm the Imperial Embassy to declare independence from Zesskia, supported by artificial fairy reinforcements. Prime Minister Helwise, concerned about potential sabotage in the government's fairy inventory, orders Dorothea to join the response force and authorizes the use of the Fairy Weapon Aliadra. Meanwhile, Liscar and his men infiltrate Rondacia. As most Dorothea agents depart, Marlya, Free, Klara, and Serge remain in the city. Free delivers a letter from Ray Dawn to Helwise, revealing that the Hybranz rebellion is a diversion and Duke Diese intends to attack the Emperor directly. Consequently, the four agents head to defend the Emperor, with Free bringing his Fairy Weapon Verosteal. Duke Diese and Wolfran secretly enter the city, promising to end the government's fairy monopoly. At Ray Dawn's mansion, his Fairy Weapon is missing from its case. While Hybranz troops attacking the East and West gates of the Rondacia Palace are repelled, Liscar breaches the Heavenly Gate using his Fairy.

Liscar and his forces breach the palace, engaging Zesskian troops. Free confronts Liscar, aided by Marlya, Klara, and Serge, and inflicts a serious wound. Liscar orders a retreat instead of continuing the fight. Marlya pursues them to avenge Oz, ignoring Free’s commands. Duke Diese informs Wolfran that Zesskia’s factions support him if he controls the Emperor. Wolfran enters the throne room via a secret passage but is confronted by Ray Dawn. Ray Dawn reveals Wolfran was his double agent and executes him for treason. Liscar escapes the palace by breaking through Prime Minister Helwise’s blockade. Free eventually stops Marlya, asserting that they have won despite the death and destruction.
