Takashi Komuro separates from childhood friend Rei Miyamoto at the semester start. He sees a zombie attack outside and warns Rei and her boyfriend Hisashi Igo. They escape before school panic spreads. Teacher Mr. Wakisaka, now a zombie, bites Hisashi. Takashi kills the teacher by smashing its head. The trio barricades on the rooftop, watching Self-Defense Force helicopters fight the city outbreak. Hisashi succumbs to his injury, forcing Takashi to kill him despite Rei's objections. Rei insults Takashi, who nearly leaves alone. After she apologizes, they embrace briefly.
