Ep. 2: Mitamura and Fujita negotiate over the phantom Sunflowers painting at the museum.
2

Mitamura meets Sara on the Empire State Building to discuss the Van Gogh Sunflowers painting she donated to the Tokyo Takada Museum one year prior. This damaged phantom work was thought destroyed in World War II. Meanwhile, a wealthy Arab woman hires Fujita to acquire the painting. Fujita approaches Mitamura, who agrees to hand it over but attempts to trap him by asking him to restore historic Shigaraki pottery shards. Although Mitamura fails to expose Fujita as a fraud, he proves his skill and demands the artwork. She refuses, explaining the piece is a fake highly valued by a young woman who rescued it after losing her family. Upon returning to the Takada Museum, Mitamura discovers Fujita has swapped the fake for the restored original painting.
