Franz, Morrel, and Raoul de Château-Renaud abduct Valentine to protect her from a poisoner, transporting her to Marseilles. Franz suspects the Count's involvement in the poisoning incidents, whereas Albert remains unconvinced. In a parallel development, Crown Prosecutor Villefort discovers that his wife, Héloïse, is the actual culprit behind the crimes. Meanwhile, Baron Danglars makes the decision to cancel the engagement between his daughter Eugénie and Albert, adding further tension to the unfolding events.
