Albert travels to a picnic with his fiancée Eugénie de Danglars in Paris, where their speeding causes Franz’s chauffeur to crash into a ditch. Maximilien Morrel rescues them and becomes infatuated with Franz’s fiancée, Valentine de Villefort. Upon returning to Paris, Albert introduces the group to The Count, who faces immediate questioning. Robert Beauchamp attempts to photograph and record the Count but discovers no evidence was captured. After the group departs, Albert formally introduces The Count to his parents, highlighting the mysterious nature of the visitor amidst the social gathering.
