Kei rescues Kanda from Ryuji, and they flee together. She later reveals that Sakuraoka gave her a book she promised to pick up with Kei, which she desperately needs to recover. Kei leaves Kanda to return to the players, who turn against Ryuji and Muroto upon realizing they are "hobo killers." Kei intervenes as Ryuji kidnaps her teacher and escapes. Furuta, the book shop owner, provides Kei with the book, and she chases the two men and their hostage. Kei's teacher fights back, badly wounding Ryuji in the process. Muroto then shoots Kei's teacher and flees the scene.
