Meanwhile, Kei grows frustrated with Kishimoto’s constant mentions of Katou and accuses her of exploiting his hospitality, causing her to leave his apartment in guilt. Tetsu discovers his Gantz-issued gun functions outside the game and uses it to kill a man who refuses to accept it as payment. After being fired and facing marital suspicion, Tetsu attempts to buy milk but is surrounded by a gang mocking his weapon. In his anger, he shouts Gantz's name, which is forbidden outside the game, resulting in his immediate death just as his wife calls to report she is breastfeeding.
2EP 2Kei returns to Gantz after a McDonald's scavenging episode and finds new teammates.
Sep 2, 2004Kishimoto scavenges at McDonald's while Kei regrets his words and fantasizes about her. An old woman returns, inspiring Kei to demand Gantz retrieve him. He arrives in a suit with nine new people, noting Tetsu is missing. A Buddhist priest claims the room is between heaven and hell, but the group realizes they are alive by feeling heartbeats and seeing Tokyo Tower outside. Jealous of Katou, Kei cries in a side room until Sakuraoka comforts him. He asks for sex, and she agrees. Kishimoto witnesses them but they continue as the group prepares. The globe instructs them to kill one red rowdy alien and one green grumpy alien, appearing as temple guards.
3EP 3Survivors Don Gantz Suits and Face Temple Statues

A priest condemns them to hell for accepting war symbols but fears his own transport. Four players attempt to flee, prompting Katou to chase them. An explosion kills one man, and Katou explains they must stay. At the temple rear, Kajimura Ryuji and teenager Muroto Hajime discuss beating up targets while planning to sing Radio Taizo's Good Morning song. Using the X-gun, they discover bones inside the giant entrance statues. Kei smashes the door, causing the enraged statues to come to life.

A homeless man previously saved by Kei and Katou at a subway station wanders into a temple. Mirafuji, a geeky young man, shoots randomly without regard for who he hits. A green alien knocks Katou down, prompting Kishimoto to intervene and protect him. Ultimately, Kei kills the alien at the same time that hobo hunters kill the homeless man.
5EP 5The team pursues a powerful red statue while Kei faces a near-fatal attack.
Sep 23, 2004The group chases a red statue that proves significantly stronger than previous foes. It captures Kei and attempts to crush him, but a sniper on a nearby roof eliminates the threat, saving his life. Mirafuji shoots at the corpse while laughing, earning the team's disgust. Sakuraoka asks Kei to date her after returning, and he gives a reluctant yes after glancing at Kishimoto. Later, two team members exit a temple and witness a smaller statue leap from a rooftop. Soon, numerous other statues begin to emerge, signaling a larger threat.
6EP 6The team battles a colossal Buddha statue that emerges from the temple.
Sep 30, 2004As the group engages smaller statues, a massive Daibutsu rises from the temple structure. Their gunfire proves ineffective against the giant figure. Suddenly, a woman identified by Kei as his teacher and a man appear, walking directly into the statue's path. The players rush to prevent the Daibutsu from crushing the pair, who manage to escape. Kei then fires a shot into the statue's head, creating a large opening. He launches himself inside the creature to destroy it from within.
