A.E.G.I.S introduces Kaoru Konoe, a fifteen-year-old Gate Keeper candidate with physical capabilities exceeding Olympic athletes. Known as the Gate of Pursuit, she initially resists joining the Far-East Branch despite Shun and Ruriko's persuasion. Their recruitment efforts are interrupted when Invaders attack the newly opened Tomei Highway. Konoe finds herself involved in a conflict she considers unrelated to her duties. She must choose between aiding those around her or maintaining her conviction that certain obstacles are insurmountable. This confrontation forces her to confront her beliefs about overcoming challenges while navigating the immediate danger posed by the Invader assault on the highway infrastructure.
